Working at the intersection of global health, science, and technology,

I envision a world of possibilities for achieving equitable healthcare and eliminating tropical and chronic diseases in low-resource settings.

For the past decade, I worked at the non-profit organization, Global Health Labs, funded by Bill Gates’ private office, Gates Ventures, where I brought rigor to clinical research to improve the product development lifecycle. My clinical research skills include quantitative and qualitative methods, including study design, protocol writing and implementation, and carrying out human-centered design. I have led product evaluation at the pre-clinical stages of R&D for iterative development, diagnostic accuracy studies, and validation trials for regulatory purposes, World Health Organization (WHO) approvals, and evidence of health impact.

I am a trusted guide and have collaborated with various research institutes worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, to progress technology development. My partnership approach is focused on long-term development and building many discrete scopes of work over time so that the work can flow readily once a foundation of trust is established. I work comfortably with stakeholders in academics, non-profits, technology institutions, Ministries of Health and Education, and multilateral institutions. Having worked for a decade closely with the largest global health foundation in the world, I am experienced in the convention for effective messaging and advancement within high-stakes meetings.

I serve as a peer editor for PLOS Medicine, the Malaria Journal, Scientific Reports, and other scholarly journals. I also invest my time in authoring research publications and whitepapers individually, with partners, and in service to mentoring young scientists. I am a member of the scientific committee program for the American Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH).

Many rely upon my subject matter expertise in the health areas of malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases, and HPV. This is evidenced by my leadership of the Health Portfolio at Global Good, where I developed a product pipeline based on global needs and performed internal priority alignment. Others also count on me to mentor and lead teams and ensure continuous inter-generational learning. I enjoy managing teams of diverse skill sets toward a common goal.

I have an MPH from the University of Washington’s Department of Global Health, and specialized training in study design from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and science writing from Harvard Medical School. After living in Latin America for many years, I am fluent in Spanish, particularly medical terminology.
